Children and Families

IMG_1541Children and families are very welcome at St John’s.

We have a wide variety of activities for children of all ages. From the pre-school ‘Jolly Tots’ group hosted in our Hall every Thursday morning through to our monthly Family Mass children are an important part of life at St John’s. Our very popular ‘Messy Church’ takes places on a Thursday afternoon twice each school term, and every Sunday our Sunday Club meets at 10am during our Sung Mass.

The Parish School is also a critical link. A Church of England Controlled Primary School, St John’s provides education for over two hundred children and has very close links with the Church.

St John’s C of E School

IMG_0116St John’s is proud to have its Church School, St John’s C of E Primary. St John’s is a very popular local primary school led by its superb headteacher, Mrs Sally Quirk. It is a Church of England controlled school, the Church, or ‘foundation’, supplying twenty-five per-cent of the Governing Body. It holds as its explicit Christian values compassion, forgiveness, trust and tolerance.

Fr Robin or Fr Matthew hold weekly assemblies in the school and the school holds Masses, seasonal and leavers services, and a School Sunday at St John’s. In addition there are good links with school families attending St John’s on a Sunday and at Messy Church.
